Magic House

While serving at least 30 hours each year, youth volunteers work with guests in a variety of exhibit areas. It’s a chance to build skills, make new friends, and help out in a fun atmosphere. 

 

Earth Dance 

  • 14+

Volunteer opportunities range from planting and harvesting fresh vegetables, to campus construction projects, to general farm maintenance. Join us as we grow the Local Food Movement! 

 

Missouri Botanical Gardens 

  • 13+

There are chances throughout the year to assist staff at the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Butterfly House, Shaw Nature Reserve, and Litzsinger Road Ecology Center with a variety of seasonal tasks, such as helping to lead activities in the SAGE, SIFT, and MANTIS programs, among others. 


 

Burr-Oak Summer Camp - (Summer only) 

Volunteer at John Burroughs for their summer camp!

 

St. Louis Challenger Baseball

  • 10+

Become a baseball buddy, and help players with developmental disabilities play our national pastime. Help players around the bases and assist in the fields.

 

Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis

  • 15+

The mission is to benefit the lives of people with Down Syndrome and their families through individual and family support, education, public awareness and advocacy. We have many great volunteer opportunities including childcare, monthly programs for adults, and large events.

St. Louis Food Rescue

  • 13+

Collect leftover food from Costco on Sunday mornings and deliver it to the Salvation Army O'Fallon. Excellent and hands-on opportunity to give back to the community!

 

 

St. Louis Food Bank

  • 11+

Individual volunteers and volunteer groups lend support to our day-to-day operations as well as helping to staff special events and other opportunities. We are excited for you to join us!

 

House Rabbit Society

  • ​Age: 14+

The House Rabbit Society is a 100% volunteer organization. Our volunteers do everything, so we love our volunteers. Rabbits are the third most abandoned pet in the U.S. and since we have over 40 different animal shelters and animal controls calling us for help with rabbits(not to mention the general public), there are always a lot of bunnies who need help. Volunteering can include everything from cleaning cages to helping at events.

 

St. Louis Crisis Nursery

  • 14 - 16, have to be accompanied by a parent or adult

Children’s Volunteers care for our kids by engaging them in the day’s activities, including playtime (arts & crafts, dress up, games, outside play), meal/snack time, quiet/nap time, rocking and feeding our babies.

 

Country Acres Animal Shelter

  • 13+

We are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, socialization and placement of homeless, abandoned and abused/neglected cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies. You can help with administration, adoptions, animal socialization, education, fostering, fundraising, marketing, obedience training, offsite adoptions, pet care attendant, special events, and dog walking.

 

 

St. Louis County Libraries

  • 12+

Local libraries also offer fun and interesting ways for teens to give back to our community. Volunteering includes cutting scrap paper, stocking container but the PC’s, putting together welcome packets, assisting with summer reading club, assisting with preparations for library programs, assist with meal programs, file materials in alphabetical order as instructed, Light cleaning such as sanitizing material or dusting, and Assist with the summer meals program.

 

World Bird Sanctuary

  • Age: 14+

Volunteers play an integral role in the World Bird Sanctuary mission by helping to care for sick or injured birds in our wildlife hospital, working side by side with our animal husbandry staff, and inspiring the next generation of conservation leaders through our environmental education department. With a wide range of opportunities available, your skill set will be sure to make a difference! If you are a fun loving, enthusiastic, and hard working individual, we would love to welcome you into the team!

 

Ride on St. Louis

  • Age: 14+

Program volunteers train to assist our clients and staff. Program volunteers may be trained to walk next to the side of the horse and provide support and stabilization to our clients who need assistance. Program volunteers are trained for ground activities to help ensure the safety of the client and enhance activities.​

 

The Missouri Botanical Gardens - Sophia M. Sach Butterfly House

St. Louis Zoo

SUMMER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Teens will learn from experts in the fields of education, conservation and animal welfare. By volunteering at the Zoo, you can support wildlife and create memorable experiences that connect people to animals. Teens will improve communication skills as they share knowledge and their own personal connections to the Zoo and animals with our guests. This program is meant to foster a group of conservation-minded Zoo supporters and potential future employees.

 

Sunrise Assisted Living

  • 11+

Sunrise works with all kinds of volunteers—from children to students to older adults. Volunteers help to organize outings and activities or just spend quality time with our residents. Whether you have a passion that you’d like to bring to Sunrise or a skill that can be used to benefit the lives of our seniors, we’d like to hear from you.

 

Alton Memorial Hospital

  • 15+

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available at Alton Memorial Hospital, including positions in the hospital gift shop, at the information desk, in mail delivery and in various hospital departments. Days and hours are flexible, and the skill requirements vary with each position. All youth volunteers must attend an orientation.

 

Family Hospice

  • 15+

Patient volunteers spend their time being with patients. They may read to patients, document the patient’s life story, putting together a memory book of photos and stories or just sitting quietly with the patient.

 

St. Louis Veterans Hospital

  • 14+

Volunteers provide many important functions throughout our healthcare system and help make our patients' stay more enjoyable. Volunteers perform a number of services for our veterans ranging from driver to nursing aid to caregiver support volunteer. It is our job to match a volunteer's talents with one of our many assignments.

 

 

St. Vincent De Paul Hope Center

  • 15+

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul's volunteers, known as Vincentians, are men and women, young and old. Some are wealthy, while others are financially modest, but all Vincentians possess an awareness that our blessings (time, talent, or treasure) are to be shared with our neighbors in need. We welcome all who wish to live their faith by loving and serving their neighbor. In coming closer to those in need, you are coming closer to God. 

 

St. Louis Area Diaper Bank

  • 10+

Choose from two opportunities: At Warehouse Wrap-Up, you’ll pack diapers and period supply kids or fulfill orders and decorate boxes. For Period Cove, you’ll sort and pack period supplies for community partners. 

 

Sweet Celebrations

  • 13+

Party volunteers help set up, aid in games and activities, serve the cake, and clean up.
