Youth Service Opportunities

The Magic House, St. Louis Children's Museum

  • 13+

Work with KIDS! Make a DIFFERENCE in your community! Make new FRIENDS! Gain new SKILLS! Complete COMMUNITY SERVICE hours! Strengthen your RESUME or COLLEGE applications! Have FUN! Youth volunteers (age 13 through college students) who are outgoing, flexible, patient and love children get to rotate through a wide variety of tasks throughout the museum. New volunteers start as Play Assistants, providing support to the staff on the museum floor. As you gain more experience, more opportunities open up for you! Grace Hill Settlement House

We are looking for inidviduals to work with the children in our Head Start program. Our kids range from the age of 3-5.Classroom aides will read to the children, play outside and/or assist with daily activities in the classroom.

SouthSide Early Childhood Center

  • 10+

Classroom Assistants Assist teachers by reading books, playing games, helping with group activities, or assisting with arts and crafts projects. Clerical Assistants Help with mailings, data entry, filing, copying, and typing. Special Event Assistants Assist with agency’s special events such as classroom holiday parties, agency picnics and fundraising events. Translators Help communicate with Learning Center children and families. We need volunteers who are fluent in Spanish. Committee Members Serve on a committee of the Board of Directors: Finance, Facilities/Information Technology, Human Resources, Public Relations, or Resource Development. In addition, SouthSide offers service-learning opportunities for middle and high school students, and works with corporate groups to arrange one-time or short-term volunteer projects.

St. Louis Crisis Nursery

Interact,play,and read with young children. Assist kids with games and art activities.

 

Glen Carbon Centennial Library

  • 12+

The Jr. Friends group consists of young adult volunteers (ages 12-18) who meet at the library to perform community outreach projects. JFOL members organize fund raising activities. They also provide a safe environment within the Library young adults can meet and socialize. JFOL meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM.
