Upcoming MICDS Blood Drive this November 8th!

UPCOMING BLOOD DRIVE INFORMATION:

The Red Cross Club is hosting an MICDS blood drive on November 8th in the North Gym from 9:00-2:00! The club hosted a successful blood drive last year with the help of its sponsors Ms. Moody and Coach Foster, and we can’t wait to do the same this year.

WHY DONATE?

If you’ve never donated before, consider giving it a try, because just one donation can save three lives. If you have donated before, then you already know how rewarding the experience is, especially because only 3% of the eligible population in America donates, and you are increasing that number.

Once you’re done donating, you will even be able to track your donation on the Blood Donor App as well as find out your blood type. There are different requirements to donate, but you will know your eligibility when you read the documents/fill out Rapid Pass the day of and go through the short screening prior to your donation.

HOW CAN I PREPARE?

Be sure to eat an iron-filled dinner the night before, and make sure to stay well-hydrated. If you are on the fence about whether or not to donate, don’t worry; if you didn’t make an appointment, feel free to stop by to see if you can be a walk-in donor. There will be baked goods made by volunteers as well as snacks available.

The staff are very kind and knowledgeable, so if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask them.

Happy donating!

UPDATE:

The blood drive went amazing!!! Thanks to everyone who came, and we look forward to our next drive in spring. You made a difference.

"We had a great day collecting 28 productive units on our goal of 24 with 34 total donors presenting. These units will help up to 72 patients in need at our partner hospitals" -- Daniel Miner, Red Cross Official.

ABOUT THE RED CROSS CLUB:
